Today we discuss #3 Brokers. (Please see Part 1 & 2 for the precursors of this series)
In addition to all the other changes in real estate, new brokerage models are debuting. Traditional brokers such as Keller Williams, Alain Pinel, & Coldwell Banker are upping their game to compete with the recently formed Rex (2014), Purple Bricks (2012), and Compass (2012). In their attempt to keep and attract agents, traditional brokers formed partnerships with leading real estate tech companies. For example, Alain Pinel rolled out a whole new marketing strategy and now offers discounts and free services to its agents partnering with tech giants such as Adwerx, Contactually, ActivePipe, Realscout, and now, Facebook. Their goal: offer Alain Pinel agents exclusive access to off market listings, integral real estate information, and unlimited networking opportunities within the Alain Pinel community. Tying back to the first topic, technology- brokerages are influencing how agents buy and sell real estate with their clients by creating their own tech platforms. In addition, they’ve also begun updating pay structures, offering assistance where formerly there was none, and ultimately adapting the look and feel of day-to-day business.
